How to Reduce Wrinkles on Face Naturally

Wrinkles are caused by two main factors: dryness and a lack of elasticity. Despite the lavish promises made by face-cream manufacturers, it’s simply not possible to get rid of some wrinkles altogether. You can, however, improve their appearance quite significantly with some simple treatments.

Commercial wrinkle treatments are often priced very high, especially when you consider that their ingredients are usually quite simple. Instead of wasting money on creams and ointments, try these natural remedies.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice has long been considered a natural beauty aid. Lemon juice contains fruit acids, which act as natural exfoliants. Removing dead skin reveals new, fresher skin underneath. Lemon juice is also astringent, tightening the skin and thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles. You can also improve your skin by eating a slice of lemon every day or drinking lemon juice in water.

Olive oil

Olive oil can help improve the appearance of wrinkles in a range of different ways. First of all, it has a moisturizing effect, which immediately reduces fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes. Olive oil plumps up skin cells, smoothing the skin and giving you a fresher look. Olive oil also contains potent antioxidant compounds, which may help slow down the appearance of aging if used regularly. It’s especially useful if you suffer from dry, sensitive skin.

You can smooth olive oil onto your skin neat, as a replacement for a night cream. Alternatively, you can use it as one stage of a daily oil wash. Olive oil can be blended with other ingredients to make your face creams and nourishing masks.

Egg whites

The protein in egg whites is widely regarded as being good for your skin. You can easily make a luxurious face mask by merely whipping egg whites in a bowl and then applying them to your face. You can either massage the egg whites into your skin with your fingertips or spread the whites over your face. Once you’ve applied a thick layer, you should leave the egg whites to dry.

An egg white mask will nourish your skin and gently tighten it, smoothing away wrinkles and generally improving the condition of your skin.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is famous for its skin-soothing and skin-smoothing properties. This succulent plant is great for reducing wrinkles. While you can buy products containing aloe vera, it’s much better to use the fresh plant.

Aloe vera plants are very easy to grow indoors and will thrive on almost any window-sill. When you want to use the plant, cut off a leaf, and then open it up. Inside, there will be a soft, clear gel. You can smooth this gel onto the areas where you want to reduce wrinkles. It’s also great for sunburn and all kinds of skin complaints, including minor injuries such as burns and scalds.

If you can’t get your hands on a fresh plant, the next best product is one consisting of pure aloe vera gel or juice. The fewer additives mixed into the aloe vera, the better.

Facial massage and exercises

Massage is an excellent way to reduce wrinkles. Using natural oil (such as olive oil) or your favorite lotion, gently massage your face with your fingertips. Do this daily for smoother, more radiant skin.

A facial exercise regimen can also improve the appearance of wrinkles. These are simple exercises that build up the muscles of your face, supporting your skin and reducing wrinkles by tightening it.

Most importantly: protect your skin from the sun

Damage from the sun is one of the leading causes of wrinkles. While it’s challenging to reverse sun damage once it’s occurred, you can easily prevent it by using a good quality sunblock. Apply sunblock every time you go outside, even when the sun isn’t shining. Choose primer and foundation with a sun protection factor of at least 15. Wear hats in strong sunlight, especially if you’re going to be outside for an extended period. Most importantly, avoid tanning beds. Proper skincare from harmful UV rays is the best way to stay looking young.
