I wanted to talk to you today about headaches and primarily how they present and some of the easier ways to control them.
We’re doing a little bit about the location and presentation of headaches or migraines. Now there are a lot of different headaches to cover here so we’re going to be pretty brief and just kind of touch on them.
Tension Headaches
Tension headaches are the most common type of headache.
Symptoms
- Can start as a sharp pain in back of head
- Feels like a headband being viced around the head
Causes
- People Who Read a lot
- Office workers
- Office workers
Prevention & Treatment
- Laying down
- Ice pack on the base of the skull or on the neck
- Heating pack on the base of the skull or on the neck
Migraines
Migraines are defined as moderate to severe pain that can endure from 4 hours to 3 days.
Symptoms
- Sound and light sensitivity
- See light and colorful circles around lights
Causes
- Stress
- Can start with tension headaches

Sinus Headaches
Symptoms
- Sinus and forehead pain
- Pain behind the eyes
- Pain around the cheekbones
Causes
- Mucus-filled or Inflamed Sinus
- Allergic reaction
- Infection

- Drink plenty of water
- Antihistamines or decongestants
- Allergy treatments
TMJ Based Headaches
Symptoms
- Jaw and facial pain
- Wrap around headache
- Clicking sound in the jaw
Causes
- Car accident or other injury
- Recent dental work
- Consistent teeth grinding.
- Osteoarthritis
